Cheesle ("we", "us") is a free daily cheese-guessing game. This policy explains what information the app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Cheesle mobile and web app.
We keep collection to the minimum needed to run the game. Depending on how you use Cheesle, this may include:
Some data never leaves your device. Your current daily streak, whether you have already played today, and your shuffled queue of upcoming cheeses are stored locally in your browser or app storage. Clearing your app data removes them.
Cheesle does not request access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location, and does not contain advertising or third-party tracking pixels. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
We use the information described above only to:
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that host and operate the app — cloud hosting and database services, and, if you sign in, the identity provider you chose (such as Google or Apple) for the purpose of authenticating you. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own terms.
Nicknames and leaderboard times you submit are visible to other players. Please do not include personal information in a nickname.
Account and gameplay data are kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app; this removes your account and associated personal data. Leaderboard entries may remain in anonymised or aggregated form. Data held only on your device is removed when you clear your app data.
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or request a copy of your data in a portable format. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us using the method below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cheesle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on reputable cloud infrastructure with access restricted to what is needed to operate the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy from time to time — for example if the app gains new features. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise a data protection right, you can write to the developer contact address listed on the Cheesle App Store page.
